AI Engineer Intern — Samjho
Help build Samjho, our rural voice assistant.
Work on the actual AI problems behind Samjho: write training utterances, design intents, engineer prompts, and build a tiny classifier. Real ML work, real artifacts for your portfolio.

12 missions. 4 phases. One incredible portfolio.
Each mission builds on the last. Complete them in order, at your pace. AI reviews every submission.
Phase 0: Audition
1 missionsOne quick task. No experience needed. Show us you care.
Your First Try
Think of ONE thing a farmer or shopkeeper might ask a voice assistant — write it in their words — and tell us one reason it would be HARD for an AI to understand.
Submit: A few honest lines (no code needed)
Phase 1: Foundation
5 missionsGo public on LinkedIn, learn the craft, ship your first work.
Day-1 Launch: Go Public
On day one, make your internship public. Update your LinkedIn headline, add this internship to your Experience, and publish a short post that you have started — tagging KaryoSetu. Tap your Get Hired Kit for ready-made copy.
Submit: LinkedIn headline + Experience updated, plus your live day-1 post URL and a screenshot (tagging KaryoSetu).
Meet Samjho & Map Intents
Samjho is KaryoSetu's voice assistant for rural users who prefer speaking over typing. Your first job: figure out what people will actually ask it.
Submit: 5 user intents — each with a description and 2 example user goals
Build the Training Set
Models learn from examples. Build a labeled dataset of 50 real-sounding utterances across your 5 intents — in the languages villagers actually use.
Submit: 50 labeled utterances (10 per intent) across Hindi / Marathi / English
Learn in Public
Real professionals build an audience by sharing what they learn. Post one specific thing you learned this week on LinkedIn, tagging KaryoSetu — turn your progress into proof and reach.
Submit: A live LinkedIn post URL sharing one learning + a screenshot showing the KaryoSetu tag.
Prompt-Engineer the Brain
Use an LLM as Samjho's brain: engineer a prompt that classifies what a user said and replies helpfully — then stress-test it on tricky inputs.
Submit: Your system prompt + a 10-case test table + a short failure analysis
Phase 2: Skill Building
4 missionsAI-powered missions, advanced craft, and your capstone project.
KaryoSetu Build #1 — Tiny Intent Classifier
Your capstone: build a working intent classifier on your data — any tool, from a Colab notebook to a clever rule-based matcher — and measure how good it is.
Submit: Notebook/screenshots + an accuracy report (with a few error examples)
KaryoSetu Build #2 — Evaluation & Error Analysis
Real AI engineers measure before they ship. Build a small test set for your intent system, score it honestly, and categorise WHY it fails — the skill that separates engineers from prompt tinkerers.
Submit: A test set (15-20 cases) + an accuracy score + an error analysis grouping the failures
KaryoSetu Build #3 — Multilingual & Safety
Rural users mix Hindi, Marathi and English — and sometimes ask things Samjho should not answer. Make your assistant robust to code-mixed input and safe by design.
Submit: Code-mixed test cases + handling rules + safety guardrails (refuse/redirect) with examples
Field Mission — Real Voices for Samjho
Take your AI work to a real person. Sit with one rural user or worker, ask (with consent) what they'd say to a voice assistant in their own words, capture real utterances, and help them onto KaryoSetu.
Submit: 10 real utterances in their words (with intent labels) + a photo or note from the person (with consent) + their KaryoSetu listing.
Phase 3: Portfolio & Launch
3 missionsBuild your proof, pitch yourself, graduate with a bang.
Build Your Portfolio & Proof
Your work only counts if a recruiter can see it. Curate everything you have built into a sharable portfolio and write the one resume line that sells this internship.
Submit: Your KaryoSetu portfolio link + a 4-6 line portfolio summary + your one-line resume bullet.
The Reverse Interview
Practice selling yourself. Prepare a sharp "why hire me" pitch and answers to 3 classic interview questions — each backed by real evidence from this internship.
Submit: Your 60-second pitch (text or recording) + answers to 3 interview questions with portfolio evidence.
Voice Flow & Showcase — Grow KaryoSetu
Design one complete Samjho conversation, then ship your work in public: post about what you built and tag KaryoSetu.
Submit: A full conversation flow + a live LinkedIn post URL + screenshot (tagging KaryoSetu)
