The 13 Missions
Complete all 13 to earn your certificate, portfolio, and stipend
Phase 1: Foundation
₹300 on completion
Village Recon
Walk through your village for 2 hours. Photograph 10 different livelihoods, businesses, or skills you see. For each photo, record a short voice note describing what the person does and why it matters.
First 3 Interviews
Pick 3 people from your Village Recon. Have a 10-15 minute conversation with each. Ask about their work, challenges, income, and dreams. Take a selfie with each person. Fill the interview template for each.
What I Found
Look at your 3 interviews and 10 recon photos. What patterns do you see? Fill the "What I Found" template: How many have smartphones? How many use UPI? What is the most common job? What surprised you the most?
Problem Discovery
From everything you have seen and heard, identify the TOP 3 problems people in your village face. For each problem: Who is affected? How many people? What do they currently do about it? Take a photo that shows the problem.
Phase 2: Skill Building
₹500 on completion
AI Tool Challenge
Complete 3 real tasks using AI tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.). Each task uses YOUR village data from earlier missions. Screenshot your AI conversations and explain what worked.
Build Something Real
This is the heart of the program. Build something REAL that helps real people in your village. Your track determines what you build. Take photos and videos of people actually using or reacting to what you created.
Digital Identity
Make your real work findable — because visibility is how opportunity (jobs, college, customers) finds you. WHERE: (1) Build a professional LinkedIn profile and add "Gram Scholar Intern at KaryoSetu" as your experience — this is your resume the whole world can see. (2) Write one ~200-word post about a finding from your first 4 missions, with a real photo. (3) Publish it on LinkedIn, AND share it on WhatsApp (your Status + a community group) so your own village sees it. Post it on Instagram too if you use it. Same story, three places — each reaches different people.
Phase 3: Deep Impact
₹1,200 on completion + top 20% bonus
Deep Fieldwork Sprint
Over the next 2 weeks, expand your research to 50+ people. Use the KaryoSetu app to add each person. For every 10 people you add, write a "micro-insight" — one paragraph about what you learned from that batch.
Grow the Setu Network
Find 1 person who could be a great Setu Saathi (a trusted community helper — teacher, ASHA worker, shopkeeper, SHG leader) and 1 local business for Setu Star. Explain both programs face-to-face, help them register on KaryoSetu, and document the whole process. This is how you grow the network beyond your own fieldwork.
Solution Prototype
Take your best problem from Mission 4 and your best build from Mission 6. Create an improved solution. Test it with at least 5 real people. Document: what worked, what failed, what you would change.
Community Pitch
Present your work to your own community. Record a ~5-minute video presenting your fieldwork and solution to 5+ village elders or leaders (sarpanch, teacher, shopkeeper, SHG leaders), and capture their honest feedback. Floor: at least a 2-minute selfie video in your own language.
Publish Your Research
Write a field research article using AI assistance. Title format: "The State of [Your Topic] in [Your Village/District]." Include real data from your interviews, quotes from real people, photos, and your analysis. We will help you publish it on the KaryoSetu blog.
Final Showcase
This is your graduation moment. Record a 3-5 minute video presenting your entire Gram Scholar journey — what you researched, what you built, what impact you created, and what you learned. Present it to at least 3 village elders or community members and capture their reactions.
