Setu Saathi Training Program
The complete blueprint for training KaryoSetu's human-powered growth engine. From training videos to booklets, from practice tasks to gamification — everything needed to turn a community member into a certified Setu Saathi.
Program Overview
Why this training program exists, what it produces, and how it fits into KaryoSetu's mission.
What Is a Setu Saathi?
A Setu Saathi (Bridge Helper) is any KaryoSetu user who has been using the app for 90+ days and volunteers to help others in their community use the platform. They onboard new users, create listings for people who can't do it themselves, teach voice features, resolve basic disputes, and earn money while doing all of this.
The Setu Saathi is NOT an employee. They are NOT a sales agent. They are a trusted community member who bridges the gap between a powerful digital marketplace and people who need it but can't access it alone.
How Is This Different from Gram Scholars?
Gram Scholars Program
- Who: College students (BSc Agri, BCom, BA, BCA, BSc, B.Ed, LLB)
- Duration: 8-week structured internship
- Goal: Learn + Collect data + Create research reports
- Format: Academic — video lectures, curriculum, assignments, presentations
- Outcome: Certificate, recommendation letter, portfolio project
- Language: Marathi-first (Maharashtra colleges)
- Scale: Batch-based (30-50 per batch)
Setu Saathi Training
- Who: Anyone — farmer, shopkeeper, housewife, student, retired person
- Duration: Self-paced (3-7 days typical)
- Goal: Learn to onboard users, create listings, teach app, earn money
- Format: Practical — short videos, hands-on tasks, scenario practice
- Outcome: Saathi badge, earning ability, community leadership path
- Language: Hindi-first (pan-India reach)
- Scale: Always-on (anyone can apply anytime)
Key Design Constraint
Gram Scholars can read 100-page booklets. A Setu Saathi might not be comfortable reading at all. Everything must work as video-first, with booklets as optional supplementary reading. The training must be completable by someone who only watches videos and does practice tasks — without ever opening a booklet.
Training Objectives
After completing training, a Setu Saathi should be able to:
- Navigate every screen and feature of the KaryoSetu app confidently
- Explain KaryoSetu to any rural person in under 3 minutes using relatable examples
- Create high-quality listings across all 13 categories with good photos, fair prices, and clear descriptions
- Teach users voice search and voice listing creation so they become independent
- Handle user data responsibly and protect privacy at all times
- Mediate basic disputes between buyers and sellers fairly
- Understand and maximize their earning potential through the Saathi dashboard
Audience Profile
Understanding who our Setu Saathis are — their strengths, limitations, and what motivates them.
Who Becomes a Setu Saathi?
The Tech-Savvy Farmer
Ramesh, 35, uses WhatsApp and YouTube daily. Completed 10th standard. He listed his tractor on KaryoSetu and now wants to help his village get on the app too. Motivated by earning potential and community respect.
The SHG Leader
Sunita, 42, leads a 15-member self-help group. BA graduate. Her group makes pickles and papad. She's already selling on KaryoSetu and wants to bring the whole group — and then the whole village. Motivated by women's empowerment and additional income.
The College Student
Arjun, 21, BCA final year. He set up his grandmother's shop on KaryoSetu and now helps neighbors too. Motivated by building his resume, earning pocket money, and tech experience.
The Retired Shopkeeper
Shankar Kaka, 58, ran a kirana store for 30 years. Knows everyone in 3 villages. Uses a basic smartphone. Wants to stay active and relevant. Motivated by social connection and small earnings.
The Young Housewife
Priya, 26, completed 12th. Teaches her mother-in-law UPI payments. She's already the "tech person" in the family. Wants to do something productive from home. Motivated by independence and self-worth.
The Service Provider
Dinesh, 38, electrician. Gets most of his bookings through KaryoSetu now. Wants to help other service providers in his area list their work too. Motivated by community building and earning a little extra.

Why Voice Notes Instead of Written Answers?
Many Setu Saathis are more comfortable speaking than typing. Voice notes test their real-world ability — they'll need to talk to users, not write to them. It also works on low-end phones where typing in Hindi is slow and frustrating. Voice is the natural medium for this audience.

Language Strategy
Reaching every Setu Saathi in the language they think in.
| Language | Priority | Used For | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hindi (Hindustani) | Primary | All videos, booklets, exam, quick cards (front) | Understood by 70%+ of rural India. Simple spoken style, not formal. |
| Marathi | High | Quick cards (back), booklet translations, regional videos | Starting market is Maharashtra (Nashik). Marathi versions needed for deep penetration. |
| Hinglish | Natural | Conversations, objection handling scripts, app terminology | How people actually talk. "Listing banana hai", "Search karo", "Screenshot lo" — this is natural. |
| English | Subtitles | Video subtitles (secondary track), app UI terms, tech terms | Technical terms (listing, search, OTP, UPI, dashboard) stay in English everywhere. |
Translation Protocol
Hindi booklets are created first. Marathi and English translations follow the same process used for Gram Scholars booklets: preserve HTML structure, keep all technical terms in English, translate meaning not words, use regional warmth (e.g., "Kaka", "Tai" for Marathi; "Bhaiya", "Didi" for Hindi).
